Antibes, France : August 2012
I haven’t had much time to sit and connect to the internet as much as I could back in the Philippines. For one I have shared internet connection with ma colloc (colloquial term for roommate in French) which basically means that when she uses it, I can’t. Or it can also either be that I’m out so late at night and I get back so “early” in the morning. At first I worry a lot about missing on a lot of things I wanted to write about but later I figured, I’m here in France and I should just enjoy myself. So now that I can get a chance to write things down briefly while I can and while I’m not too tired, I would.
Today we went to Antibes, a pretty close town in Nice. We went by train and since we already purchased our tickets last night, there was less stress. We even had time to go discover this centre commercial (mall in French) nearby via tram called Nice TNL. Inside is also a grocery store, more like Macro back in the Philippines called Carrefour where they sell groceries and other necessities for less! I haven’t purchased though since I didn’t want to bring groceries all the way to Antibes. Anyway they’re open tomorrow even if it’s Sunday (since most stores are closed on Sundays) so I’d have the morning to do a bit of shopping. All in all Antibes is a pretty little village which I find really interesting except for the beach. I have to admit (and be proud) that beaches back home are way better. I think that also makes me not go to the beach so much as my neighbours here in my residence would.
After the visit in Musée Picasso, I strolled with a few friends. First stop was this bookstore. I’ve been to a couple of bookstores but this is by far my favourite and I’ll seriously go back here again! I didn’t buy any books though even though a lot of them are in bargain prices. I just bought a few postcards and a magnet and that cost me about 8 Euros all in all.
Then we passed by this glacerie (ice cream store) and bought ice creams there with Heejin. I had vanille et nutella!
We continue to stroll with our ice creams around the village until it was time for our Brazilian friends to leave for Nice. Heejin and I parted and I found a few more bargain stores and decided to purchase a few clothes, well, two shorts for only 20 Euros. Normally, one pair of shorts would cost me 20 Euros back here in Nice but I was able to buy two in Antibes!
The rest of the afternoon I spent with friends at the beach. I wanted to continue reading my book there but speaking with friends seems like a much more brilliant idea.We left Antibes at 18h30 and by 19h00 we were back in Nice. Rick cooked pasta Bolognese for us tonight again! That saves me a couple more meals to cook for the next few weeks. I do hope I could cook for him someday too… if I ever learn to cook more than fry haha!
