During our first night, we decided to splurge on authentic greek meal. I never had greek cuisine before so this was another first.

I was not able to note the restaurant name although it was somewhere near our hostel (we stayed at Hotel Pella in Monasteraki). For 14 EUR, this included bread, traditional greek salad (topped with feta cheese and olives!) and the main course. I chose pork souvlaki - a greek staple. The waiter/owner was so fond of us he made us try the local alcoholic drink. For a shot, it was a strong one! I was not able to finish the shot. Otherwise I would be crawling back to the hostel.

The following days, we will just be trying out different souvlaki varieties from pork, beef, chicken, lamb. We would also come across a souvlaki place where we bought our meals for only 2 EUR!

The kebabs back in the Philippines, they're nothing compared to the souvlaki back in Greece. It was so sumptuous and siksik, nothing like it, at least not back home. Nope, not even in Cyma (a Greek resto in the Philippines) even if it's the closest I can get to my earlier authentic Greek experience.
