Principauté de Monaco : August 2012

I used to read about TER (transport express régional) and SNCF (Société Nationale des Chemins de fer français / French National Railway Corporation) in my grammar books back in the Philippines. Today, I get to see and experience them in real life!

For just 5,40 € (thanks to the discount we get as students and as adults below 26) I, together with the whole class, went to the Principality of Monaco, home of the rich, fabulous and famous !

Our guide, Carlos, simply took us around the city of Montecarlo while narrating bits and pieces of Monaco’s history which I can barely recall.

This is the famous Musée Océanographique de Monaco. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get in because the entrance to the museum costs too much so instead, Carlos gave us an hour and a half to do whatever we wish.

But before anything else, we dropped by St. Nicolas Cathedral where the remains of Prince Albert and Princess Grace Kelly (+) are found along side other deceased family members of the royal family.

Afterwards, Ricky and I decided to have Norwegian pizza in one of the restaurants located in the tiny streets of Monaco!

When the free time given to us was over, we took the bus from our meeting point at the museum to the famous casino in the city center! We couldn’t get in because we weren’t dressed properly so we can just get as close as this.

I don’t know why I failed to sneak a peek at the famous F1 Grand Prix race track with the others. Such a shame. But I’ll definitely make it a point to see it when we decide to visit Monaco again in the coming months!
