San Remo, Italia : Octobre 2012
One fine Saturday on the month of October, I got a text message coming from my British friend, Isa. It was an invite to a weekend trip to the nearby Italian town of San Remo. Without anything better to do, I agreed. So at noon of the 8th of October, Isabelle, her German colleague and I hopped on the next train to San Remo, Italia!
If I could sum up this trip, it was nothing more but a food trip rather than a sight-seeing trip. We had authentic Italian pizza at a restaurant with free-spirited Italian football fans who, in the middle of our meal, shouted 'Mamamia' in unison ! And of course, we would not miss out the gelato experience !
Isa wanted to try watching an Italian film. None of us spoke Italian so it could’ve been an exciting challenge for us francophone / anglophone / germanophone. We decided to roam around the little city of San Remo some more but later decided to head back to Nice instead that afternoon after a good look of the town.We did however stop by on this casino. Unfortunately since it was only Isabelle who was properly dressed, we couldn’t get in. It could’ve been the next best thing after the casino in Monte Carlo but oh well, I guess I’m really not meant for places like this.
San Remo is still part of the Riviera. By the shore, my friends battled for the farthest stone thrown and the biggest splash on the mediterranean sea.
For me, a trio is the perfect companion for trips like these. You get to discuss things, share food and experiences together without much of the hassle of a big group. Thank you for inviting me to your weekend day trip, guys ! I hope to see you and hang out with you again some time in this life!
