I scored free books (while also spending a hundred euros for the rest)
About a month ago, while I was on my computer, a chat screen of a friend popped-out of my window with a link. I clicked on it and it led me to a Facebook photo of the local bookstore. They were having a Salon de Livre F.L.E – a book fair on French as a foreign language with five editors present on the scene! It was on a Wednesday from 10h to 17h and I had class from 9h to 15h30. I never had to miss class even if did not have the motivation to attend, I still choose to go. Okay, except for this one time where I had an appointment at the immigration office and another time when I was experiencing horrible cramps. But this time, I just could not miss it! I decided to skip English class and by 13h, I found myself on the second floor of Librairie Armitière at Rue Jeanne d’Arc, surrounded by books (a.k.a. heaven on earth), engaging in a conversation with three out of the five editors present.
I scored two free samples of what we call manuel de FLE (French textbooks) and also purchased some other books for my studies. I have mixed emotions about two things: getting free books (that costs about + 20 EUR each) and spending almost 100 EUR for the rest. But I guess it’s all for the best, I’m hoping. Let’s put these books into good use (so I can have my money’s worth hehe).
