Life Update : February 2017

14-feb-post.jpg

It seems that I am in an eternal state of reviving my blog. I don’t know what has gotten into me. I used to love writing, documenting my everyday without it feeling like a task. I guess this [not writing everything down] is for the best – so that I will focus more in the present without having to worry or think about how I am going to describe my entire day. But with my thesis writing on its way, I thought to get myself back to it, you know, as practice ; as a way for me to get back to that other passion I had to abandon (along with drawing/art) ; as a way for me to get myself motivated.

So I guess, here I am once again. Hello – as your iPhone would say each time you restore the factory settings. Btw, update 0.5, since December 24, 2016, I’m no longer an iPhone user! I’m in love with my Huawei P9! I was so scared of this shift back to Android but ever since I made this shift, I have not regretted a day of it!

Update #1 : Internship

Since my last post, a lot of things had happened. Where to even begin? I got an internship after months of futile searching. I had interviews sometime in mid-December of 2016 for an internship in Portland, USA and Xela, Guatemala – both I had to unfortunately refuse for a spot in an internship in Rouen. It was one of the toughest decision I had to make.

Update #2: Going home for the holidays

I went back home for three weeks to attend a wedding, to be with my family during the holidays (Christmas, New Year, my birthday) and to finally see my bestfriend (in person) whom I haven’t been with since I left for France in 2015 and her, for New Zealand!

Update #3: School work and exams

Three weeks went by so fast. I didn’t have time to finish my school work nor open my notes to get ready for my final exams. I knew I was never that type that reviews hardcore before the exams. My mom used to wonder about it because, unlike my sister, I don’t spend late nights looking over my notes. But despite that, I’ve always succeeded. I don’t know how, but I passed my third semester with an incredibly high average. Well, I sort of know why – way before the semester started, I practically read all books in the reading list for each subject. Also, for most of my subjects, I had to prepare oral presentations which, I believe, pulled my grades up (par rapport aux semestres precedents). I’ve always been better at oral presentations than anything written.

Update #4: Language skills progress report

Just trying to explain all this, I feel my struggle finding the right idioms. I know I have it in there; it’s just that I had to push it further down my brain to make way for new French expressions.I’m in that awkward phase where I’m no longer fluent in any language I speak. I barely use my English so I try to work on that by reading short novels in between thesis reading which is mostly in French. Lately, I’ve also been (re)hooked into Korean dramas so that’s another (language) skill I’m trying to relive at the same time that I’m struggling with my (improving) French and my (deteriorating) English skills.

Update #5: Travel

These among a long list of updates. I’ve been places, too, at least I try to.  I started my 2017 travel year with a quick tour of Taiwan for my 17-hour layover from Manila to Paris (more on that hopefully a little later), (re)visited Lille in France and Polish cities of Gdynia and Gdansk, discovered Sopot and Malbork, Poland and Fontainbleau, France. I’m also hoping I would be motivated enough to write about those, too and soon!

Update #6: Health

It’s been more than a week since I started eating healthy. I’ve been jogging around for 30 minutes every other day, too! Same time frame but longer routes. I started with a kilometer and a half and according to my running application, I add about half a kilometer every new session. Today, if weather permits, I’ll be running four kilometers for the same time frame! Progress. Slowly but surely.615 words for my first post of 2017, so far so good! Let’s keep it going, shall we, Leni?
