Third Autumn in Paris

Time has flown, and now I find myself in my third autumn in Paris. Unlike the previous two, this season marks the beginning of a structured routine. This year's autumn will be about instilling structure, prioritizing self-care, enjoying hearty meals, and rekindling connections. Here's how I've prepared to settle into the coziness of autumn:

1. Wardrobe Transition: It was time to shift from summer to cooler weather attire. I meticulously sorted through my wardrobe, assessing what to keep and what to discard. Some pieces will find new homes, while others were earmarked for resale. Remarkably, I've reached a point where I'm content with my wardrobe, reducing the need for further purchases. 2. Home Organization: The state of my living space was overdue for attention. I initiated a thorough cleaning and organizing process. Neglected houseplants finally received the care they deserved, which prompted me to reflect on my lack of routine, leading to a cluttered home. (More on Home Organization here)

3. Grocery Essentials: A fresh delivery of groceries signaled the start of my culinary journey into autumn. I've planned to prepare a selection of to-go fall recipes designed to be both easy and satisfying for the next three months. The era of light summer meals has come to an end, making way for heartier, warming dishes that provide comfort during the cooler months. (More on Food & Nutrition here)

4. Skincare Reset: For the first week of fall, I decided to simplify my skincare routine, focusing solely on cleansing and sunscreen. By the second day, it was evident that my skin had become noticeably drier. I'm hopeful that I can postpone the reintroduction of a more extensive routine until the first Friday of fall. 5. Catching Up: With some well-deserved alone time, I took the opportunity to recenter myself and tackle the backlog of messages that had accumulated over time. It was a relief to finally respond to long-overdue messages and reconnect with friends and family, reestablishing connections that were temporarily sidelined during my recent transitions.

This autumn signifies a fresh start, a hope for a more stable season. I'm eager to see my plans come to fruition and welcome the cozy weather and the vibrant colors that autumn offers. While I anticipate the change, I can't help but acknowledge that I will miss the generous sunlight of summer.

How do you welcome the fall season?
