Pastries at Brioche Dorée

Pastries at Brioche Dorée

Barely had any sleep. Watching The Last Czars, no matter how interesting, scared me. I kept waking up in the middle of the night and ultimately at 5:30 AM. Stayed in bed until around 7 AM, watching the rest of the episodes. Skipped a good deal of the last episode though. Managed to arrange my stuff, take a shower and then I set off for breakfast in the city center.

First I had breakfast in Brioche Dorée. Then I went to Undiz in search of another swimwear. All the items are on sale, 50% off! I bought a yellow swimwear, a pair of yellow shorts to cover up my legs and a green romper for 35 EUR. Then, as I made my way to the Jean Medecin tram stop, I decided to look around Pull and Bear where I bought my head band. Prior to these though, I bought some groceries, non-perishable items except for my lunch - strawberries. Then just before I took the tram, I bought some green smoothies.

I headed back and felt a little hunger. Ultimately, I decided to try Deliveroo. Still no appetite, but feeling a little hungry, I went for bo bun poulet crevettes (Vietnamese sandwich) and a can of iced tea.

I waited for Jethro’s arrival. In between, I phoned the residence to end up running to Residence Alvéole since it’s not with the residence but with Michael, the Austrian intern, that we had to get the keys. Once I got my keys (room 1210), I ran back to Jethro’s, chatted with him a bit and got my luggage to drop off. I didn’t get so much time to settle but enough to make this my home for a week. I breathed for a while and stepped out earlier to get some groceries before meeting Sophie and Jethro for dinner, my treat. Then we had Gelato at Massena

On the way back, we stumbled upon a commemoration of two people from the resistance hung during WW2. On the tram, I actually saw someone pick up my 5 EUR that I dropped. I later realized it was mine but was too late.

Back at the dorm, where I don’t have the code for the internet connection (since someone else is registered for the code), I took a bath and managed to get everything in the bathroom wet !

Thanks to my phone internet, I get to write this. Tomorrow, I will start two new modules for this week. Maybe visit kuya Rocky et al ? And get some of the things on my list done.

Can’t decide if time is running too fast or too slow! Feeling sleepy now.

NICE, THE THIRD TIME AROUND

The second and last time I was in Nice was in August of 2015. Since then, I have not thought nor planned about going back anytime soon. So when I was granted a free two-week training in Nice in summer of 2019, I grabbed the opportunity right away. I was hesitant at first because my plans (not to mention budget allocation) was set entirely for one month in Lithuania. Even with a generous scholarship, going to both France and Lithuania for summer would mean going beyond the budget. Fortunately, certain circumstances made it possible. And so I was off to France for two weeks before I left for Lithuania for a month.

This entry is an excerpt of a one-week-and-a-half-worth of notes I managed to document at the end of every day.
