Walk with me around Rouen
Rummaging through my files led me to find this hidden gem. Apparently, I filmed an entire day one fine rainy weekend in Rouen in 2016!
It took me an entire afternoon to finish this video. A wave of nostalgia came rushing in.
"Do something today that your future self will thank you for," I always say. So this is 2020 me saying a big MERCI (thank you) to 2016 Leni for having recorded these few clips I can look back to.
I spent two years in Rouen, Normandy for my master's degree in French. I stayed in a student dorm just a few strides from the University. For many months, the only expectation I had to fulfill was to deliver (well) in class. And that, of course, I did.
I took the remaining time I had to discover new places, meet new people, learn a new culture, improve on my language skills... The more I learned about the outside world, the more I knew about myself.
I strongly believe that people should try to live and travel alone at least once in their life. I have had many profound thoughts, realizations and appreciations during this time in, I believe, a crucial point in my adult life.
I will always be thankful. Peek inside my student life in Rouen.
